What is the Happiness Guarantee?

It’s our promise to make sure you’re happy with every box you receive. If your snacks are damaged, items are missing, or your shipment is lost in transit (after 45 days), we’ll make it right—by including replacements in your next box or taking other appropriate steps. We want every snack time to be a joyful one.

Please note: Minor cosmetic imperfections—like crinkled packaging or snacks affected by heat—may not qualify for replacement. If you're unsure, just reach out and we’ll be happy to help clarify.

How do I report an issue?

Please email us within 7 days of delivery at support@wearetokyobites.com with:
・Photos of all sides of the box and shipping label
・A photo of the contents
・A short description of what’s missing or damaged

When can I expect a reply from customer support?

Our support team does their best to respond within 24–48 business hours—or sooner, whenever possible!! We truly appreciate your patience and will always work to get back to you as quickly as we can.

What is TOKYOBITES?

TOKYOBITES is a monthly subscription box that delivers handpicked Japanese snacks inspired by the warmth and nostalgia of childhood memories. The service was founded by Yoshi, who was inspired by the gentle moments he spent with his snack-loving grandmother.

Driven by a desire to preserve the charm of Japan’s unique snack culture—including dagashi—and share it with the world, each box is carefully curated to bring a little joy, comfort, and nostalgia to your doorstep.

What’s inside each box?

Each TOKYOBITES box includes 12–15 Japanese snacks curated around a nostalgic or seasonal theme. You’ll find a mix of sweet, savory, and surprising items.

Can I buy just one box?

While we offer subscription plans, you can subscribe to the monthly plan and cancel after your first delivery. This way, you can enjoy one box without a long-term commitment.

Do you offer dietary accommodations (vegetarian, vegan, halal, etc.)?

Currently, we do not offer customized boxes for specific dietary needs. Please note that not all snack labels include English allergen information, so we recommend contacting us if you have concerns before consuming.

Can I customize my box?

To maintain the integrity of each theme and streamline international shipping, customization is not available at this time.

Do you include nutritional or allergy information?

We include a booklet in each box with snack names, flavor descriptions, and cultural insights. For allergy-related questions, feel free to email us at support@wearetokyobites.com.

What should I do if my snacks are damaged or appear expired?

If any items arrive damaged or appear expired, please contact us within 7 days and include clear photos. Note: Japan uses the yyyy/mm/dd date format, so contact us if you're unsure.

Can I buy individual snacks from past boxes?

Not at this time—but we’re planning to launch a shop with popular past items soon. Stay tuned!

Managing Subscriptions

Which box will I receive first?

You’ll receive the current month’s themed box right from the start. Each month features a new, exclusive theme—so you’ll never get the same box twice.

How do I change my shipping address?

  • Log into your Customer Portal
  • Go to "Manage Subscription"
  • Select "Edit Shipping Address"Note: Changes apply only to unshipped orders.

How do I update my payment method?

  • Log in
  • Go to "Manage Subscription"
  • Choose "Edit Payment Method"

Can I skip a shipment?

  • Monthly plans can skip one month via Customer Portal.
  • Prepaid plans cannot skip.

How do I cancel?

  • Cancel anytime via your Customer Portal before your next renewal date.
  • Please cancel at least 48 hours in advance.

Can I switch my plan?

Need to change your plan? Just reach out to our team through the contact form or send us a quick note—we’ll take care of it for you.

What happens if I cancel a prepaid plan early?

We don’t offer partial refunds for unused boxes in a prepaid plan. However, you’ll continue to receive the remaining boxes as scheduled.

Shipping & Tracking

When will my order ship?

Orders are typically shipped within 3 business days of purchase. Please note that processing times may be slightly longer during peak seasons or Japanese national holidays.

Where do you ship, and how much is the shipping fee?

We currently ship to the countries listed below using Japan Post Priority Shipping + Tracking.

Delivery typically takes 7–28 business days after shipping, but delays may occur depending on your region or international shipping conditions.

Shipping is a flat rate of $12.50 USD per box, regardless of destination.

How can I track my order?

All orders come with a tracking number, which will be sent to your email once your box ships. After your parcel is handed over to local carriers (such as Japan Post), you can continue tracking it via your country’s postal website.

What if my box is missing, damaged, or incomplete?

If your box hasn’t arrived, is damaged, or is missing items, please contact our support team within 7 days of delivery. Be sure to include photos of the box and its contents. Once we verify the issue, we’ll either send replacements.

Will customs affect my delivery?

International orders may be delayed due to customs inspections in your country. In some cases, you may be required to provide personal identification (e.g. passport or tax ID) or pay import duties to receive your package.

Can I change my shipping address?

If your order has not yet shipped, you can update your delivery address through your Customer Portal. Please note that changes cannot be applied to orders that have already been dispatched.

Do you ship within Japan?

Currently, we do not offer domestic shipping within Japan. However, we are exploring the possibility of adding this option in the future.

Billing & Payment

What currency is used for billing?

All transactions on TOKYOBITES are processed in USD. If you're using a card issued in another currency, the amount charged will be converted at the exchange rate set by your bank or card provider.

When will I be charged?

You will be charged immediately upon completing your order. For recurring subscriptions, you’ll be billed on the same calendar day of each billing cycle (monthly, or every 3/6/12 months depending on your plan).
Please note: We operate in Japan Standard Time (JST), so your renewal date may vary slightly depending on your local timezone.

Do you charge VAT, customs duties, or taxes?

Customs regulations vary by country. TOKYOBITES is not responsible for any import taxes, VAT, or customs duties levied by your local authorities. We recommend checking your country's import rules before placing your order.

Do EU customers need to pay VAT or customs duties?

Yes. We are currently not registered under the EU’s IOSS (Import One-Stop Shop) system.
As a result, VAT and customs fees may be collected by your local customs office upon delivery.

However, we understand that this can be inconvenient, and we’re actively working to implement IOSS in the near future to simplify the process and improve your experience.

Can I get a refund?

All purchases are final and non-refundable once payment is processed. If you do not wish to receive the next box, please cancel your subscription before your next renewal date through your Customer Portal.
If your box is lost or arrives damaged, let us know within 7 days of delivery and include photos. Our team will gladly work to make things right.

Do you offer corporate or bulk gift orders?

Yes! TOKYOBITES offers customized bulk gifting options for businesses looking to share the joy of Japanese snacks with clients, employees, or event attendees. Whether it’s for holidays, company milestones, or thank-you gifts, we’re here to help.

What is the minimum quantity for corporate orders?

We handle corporate gifting inquiries starting from 10 boxes or more. Smaller orders can be placed through our regular online store.

Can I include custom messages or branding?

Yes! We can include custom gift notes, your company logo, and even branded inserts depending on your needs and volume. Let’s discuss what’s possible.

Do you ship to multiple addresses?

Yes, we can accommodate shipments to multiple addresses. Please provide us with a shipping list in spreadsheet format. Our team will assist with coordination.

How far in advance should I place a corporate gift order?

We recommend placing your order at least 4 weeks in advance to allow for packaging, customization, and international shipping, especially during peak seasons.

How can I request a quote or consultation?
